The Smith Sisters duo, Kelli and Wendi, has mastered the traditional Country/Bluegrass sound with ageless rhythms and heartfelt lyrics that are bound to move even the pickiest fan. They began performing in 2016 at the suggestion of their father, musician Fred Sherry Smith. They got to work, honed their unique style, and the next year released an album, dedicated to their dad, entitled “Shoe Tree”. In the time since, they have been very busy collecting awards and accolades and climbing the charts. These are definitely two ladies to watch … and listen to.
One could say, without exaggeration, that Brent Harrison, from Thomasville, Alabama, has been singing his entire life. His first performance on stage was at the age of five, and he has been at it ever since. Coming from a talented musical family, Brent has taken advantage of every opportunity to practice his craft. Inspired by his faith, and the classic songs of traditional Country artists, including George Jones, Charley Pride, Jim Reeves and Tammy Wynette, Brent pursued a career in Gospel and Country music and eventually wound up on the Star Search TV program. Since then, Brent has divided his time between church and music, serving in leadership roles in the ministry and performing both Gospel and Country on the stage. We are proud to feature Brent on this week’s Roundup show.
If one could choose only one word to describe the music of Brent Harms, it would be multi-talented. His work runs the gamut from Country to Rock and Metal. His single, Fast Forward, has that down home rhythm with a rockin’ beat. It is the kind of song that will get you going in the morning, with or without coffee!
Since I discovered the music of Darrel Armstrong a couple of weeks ago, I have fallen in love with his music. His songs have that traditional Country sound that I grew up with. Darrel’s single, Let’s Put Country Back In Country Once Again, is the kind of song that takes you back to the golden age, yet is filled with promise of a bright future for the genre. I am very happy to have this, and other great songs on the DownHomeRadio playlist.
Destiny Band Oz, formed by Thomas and Tessa Libreri, is an Australian band that also performs and records across the genre. Their sound runs from Country through Jazz, Rock and Soul. They currently have two albums and an EP to their credit and another album of original songs on the way. From the heartfelt and soulful Sorry to the equally heartfelt, yet bouncy One Love and beyond, this is definitely a band that is bound to satisfy.
Well, that’s the lineup. Be sure to tune in for Down Home Roundup this Sunday 17 February at 5pm PST on DownHomeRadio.
